Grief Support After the Loss Of a Child, Sibling or Grandchild

The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families in the positive resolution of grief following the loss of a child, sibling or grandchild and to provide information to help others be supportive.

The Compassionate Friends-Honolulu Chapter is a part of a national nonprofit, self-help support organization which offers friendship and understanding to families who are grieving the loss of a child or sibling of any age, from any cause. There is no religious affiliation. There are no membership fees or dues, and all bereaved family members are welcome.

The secret of TCF's success is simple: As seasoned grievers reach out to the newly bereaved, energy that has been directed inward begins to flow outward and both are helped to heal. The vision of the Compassionate Friends is that everyone who needs us will find us and everyone who finds us will be helped.

Honolulu Chapter Monthly Meetings

The 1st Saturday of every month. See Events Calendar
Time: 10:00 a.m-11:30 a.m.
Place: Pagoda Hotel Penthouse Floor, 1525 Rycroft St., Honolulu, HI 96814, Pagoda Tower. Validated parking is available at Ross/Pagoda parking on Kanunu St., one block Makai of Rycroft. pagodahotel.com/map-directions

You may come late, leave early. You are not required to talk. Just listening is OK. It takes courage to come to the first meeting-bring a friend or relative to lean on if you wish. You will find that it's all right to laugh or cry, to share exactly how you feel, or to say nothing at all. The Honolulu Chapter has been holding meetings for over 25 years. You are not alone.

Honolulu Regional 2020

The Honolulu Chapter of The Compassionate Friends is planning a Regional Conference in the year 2020 from March 27 (Friday) to March 28 (Saturday). The conference will be held at the Ala Moana Hotel. Ala Moana Hotel has created a dedicated website where hotel reservations for this event can be made. (This is separate from conference registration.) The secure website is https://book.passkey.com/e/49782047. Upon registration you will be asked for specific information, but you will not be charged until you check out. We request hotel reservations be made prior to September 2019 so we can have a preliminary idea as to how many participants will be attending.

There will be workshops on all aspects of grief including workshops on child, grandchild and sibling loss. All speakers have presented workshops at previous The Compassionate Friends National Conferences. There will be a luncheon on Friday. More information will be posted as it becomes available. Feel free to contact Terry or David Kaniaupio – kaniaupiotcf@gmail.com
